Saturday’s area sports briefs

— Forsyth Country Day shot a team score of 301 at the Willard Byrd Course at Sea Trail Golf Plantation to win the Palmetto High School Golf Championship.

The school began the day four strokes back of the lead, but finished with a combined 604, to edge Charlotte Christian by two strokes.

First-round leader Edison finished in third with a combined score of 615, and Ben Schlottman finished as the medalist after he followed up his record 65 with a 73. He was six strokes better than David Kocher of Charlotte Christian, who finished second.

North Myrtle Beach shot a team score of 326 to finish with a toal of 644, leaving them in 16th overall.

High school softball

•  St. James 12, Wells (Maine) 0 | Morgan Marlow netted the wind, and also went 2-for-2 with 3 RBIs to lead the Sharks to a win on Thursday in the Disney World tournament.

•  St. James 6, Waterford Union (Wisc) 1 | Kelsi Bachmann went 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and Hannah Price drove in 3 runs as St. James won its final Disney World tournament game on Friday.

The Sharks finished 3-2 in the tournament, and plan to make attending the event a spring break tradition going forward.

CCU women’s lacrosse postponed

Due to inclement weather, Saturday’s women’s lacrosse game against Winthrop in Rock Hill has been rescheduled to Monday, April 24 at 4 p.m.
