A 33-year-old white man was assaulted by up to 40 men Thursday night after reportedly yelling racial slurs.

Myrtle Beach Police report the man was found face up and unconscious on the sidewalk in front of 1101 N. Ocean Boulevard shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday. Witnesses tell police the man had been standing in front of a local business and was “very intoxicated,” according to the police report. Witnesses say the man was using “sexually offensive comments” toward females and racial slurs toward two black men.

The men left and returned with about 40 of their friends, according to the police report. One of the men reportedly punched the victim in the head, while another repeatedly kicked the man, according to the report. Others may have been involved, police said.

The men involved in the assault fled northbound.
