More than 800 Horry Electric customers without power in Socastee early Tuesday

ROOT, TONYA

More than 800 customers of Horry Electric were without power for nearly seven hours early Tuesday following an overnight incident along S.C. 544, according to officials.

The online outage map from Horry Electric showed 838 customers were without power along S.C. 544 from an area near S.C. 31 to Peachtree Landing along Mill Pond Road and Secondary Highway 814.

The outages began at 12:13 a.m. and 1:04 a.m. Tuesday and the map showed the power was restored by 6:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to the map.

The outages were caused after a vehicle crashed into a power pole, knocking it down.
