Coroner identifies man who drowned in Little River Saturday

A 63-year-old Canadian man was found in water behind a Little River bar and restaurant Saturday.

Horry County coroner Robert Edge identified the man as Michel Melanson. His cause of death was drowning.

Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a report of a body found behind Mulligan’s Sports Bar and Restaurant Saturday morning shortly after 9 a.m. The restaurant is located at 1359 U.S. 17, Little River.

Battalion Chief Brian Van Aernem said the fire department responded to the drowning.
