A 19-year-old woman told Myrtle Beach police she was hit several times in the head and had her cellphone stolen while she walked at Broadway at the Beach looking for a friend, according to a police report.

The victim went to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center at 1:30 a.m. Sunday for treatment to her head, elbow and foot, which she said she suffered about 12:30 a.m. Sunday when she was hit from behind about five times inside Broadway at the Beach, police said.

The victim said she was looking for her friend, who had walked away, but she did not find him, according to the report. The victim said she was talking on the phone when she walked by a group of men and one man tried to stop her to talk, but she refused.

The victim said a few minutes later someone hit her on the head and neck area about five times and she fell to the ground, according to the report. The victim said the same man who tried to speak to her earlier tried to take her cellphone from her hands, but she held onto it.

The victim said she had another cellphone, an iPhone 5C, that she used to take photos in her back pocket and it fell to the ground during the incident and the man took that phone, according to the report. The victim said she notified security about the incident, but they did not seem to help, so she went to the hospital.
