Myrtle Beach firefighters evacuated an Ocean Boulevard hotel Friday morning after a blaze was reported in the laundry room, according to authorities.

The fire was contained to that room inside the 3 Palms Oceanfront Hotel after it was reported about 9:45 a.m. Friday, officials said. No one was hurt, but there was some water damage to the laundry room inside the hotel at 703 S. Ocean Blvd. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Chris Linville of Kokomo, Ind., was running by and smelled smoke before he got to the front of the hotel. He said he saw smoke coming from the rear bottom floor.

"I knew it was coming from here. I smelled it half-mile back. When I got here I saw it was coming from the lower floor, a lot of smoke," said Linville, who is a firefighter in Indiana.

A few guests stood on the sidewalk in front of the hotel as emergency crews put away their equipment and supplies at 10 a.m. Friday. Ocean Boulevard between Seventh and Eighth Avenues South was briefly closed during the incident.
