Myrtle Beach police investigate attempted robbery in Ocean Boulevard parking lot

A 29-year-old man told Myrtle Beach police he was assaulted by two men who tried to rob him while he was in a parking lot talking to his family on his cellphone, according to a police report.

The victim told officers that about 9:30 p.m. Thursday he was in the parking lot at 1404 S. Ocean Blvd., when the men drove up, approached him and tackled him to the ground, police said.

The victim said the men demanded money and when he told them he had none they returned to the vehicle and left, according to the report. The officers obtained video surveillance of the incident and were investigating it.

The victim was not hurt.
