Australian baseball team again in need of Myrtle Beach area host families

The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach is again seeking host families for members of the Kangaroo baseball team of Melbourne, Australia.

The team is scheduled to compete in a tournament June 8-13 at the baseball and softball complex on Ripken Way Boulevard off 10th Avenue Extension N.

Having host families for the players is a way to offset the cost of traveling from Australia to play in the tournament here.

“It ended up turning into a great experience for both the players and host families as friendships were made and cultures were shared,” Bobby Holland, general manager of The Ripken Experience, said about last year’s event in a news release.

People who would like to be host families this year should contact Holland at 213-2705 or bholland@ripkenbaseball.com.

The Ripken Experience is an amateur baseball complex with four regulation-sized diamonds and five youth fields.
