Horry County Schools was named one of 2014’s Best Communities for Music Education by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation, according to a news release from the district.

HCS is one of two districts in the state that were chosen for the honor from more than 2,000 districts and schools surveyed throughout the country. The award program evaluates schools and districts based on funding, staffing of highly qualified teachers, commitment to standards and access to music instruction and is in its 15th year. Selected districts demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and greater access to music education.
