Georgetown police arrest four connected to shooting

Four people were arrested Wednesday by Georgetown police following a weekend shooting, said police Capt. Nelson Brown.

Kwamane Edward Smith, 21, of Pawleys Island, is charged with attempted murder and kidnapping.

Smith was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred shortly after midnight Sunday on Park Street in Georgetown that was drug related, Brown said. He was arrested at a motel on U.S. 501 in the Myrtle Beach area Wednesday.

Mark Ellis, 39, of Georgetown, who was shot in the incident, is charged with attempted murder, first degree burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is also charged in an unrelated case in Georgetown for failure to stop for blue lights.

Ellis underwent surgery for a gunshot wound at Georgetown Memorial Hospital Sunday, Brown said.

Christopher Brown, of Pawleys Island, is charged with harboring a fugitive and trafficking in heroin.

Mary Alice Shaluly, of Pawleys Island, is charged with harboring a fugitive.
