One treated following kitchen fire in Horry County

Horry County Fire Rescue treated on person on scene for smoke inhalation following a kitchen fire on Willard Road.

Firefighters treated one person for smoke inhalation following a kitchen fire Friday afternoon, said Kevin Rainer, a fire investigator.

Rainer said the fire started in the kitchen and extended to the dining room about 5:30 p.m. It was under control by firefighters and contained to the two rooms within half an hour.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The person a the home was treated on scene and declined transport to the hospital, Rainer said.
