A school bus was involved in a crash on Carolina Forest Boulevard near Carolina Forest Elementary School Friday afternoon, said Horry County Schools spokeswoman Teal Harding.

The bus carrying 58 elementary school students pulled out from the school in front of another vehicle, Harding said. None of the students were injured. They were taken to the school cafeteria, their parents were contacted, and all of the students have been picked up.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a local hospital, said Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins of the S.C. Highway Patrol. The driver was headed toward U.S. 501 on Carolina Forest Boulevard when the accident occurred about 2:45 p.m., he said. No details were known about the driver’s condition.

The bus driver was ticketed for failure to yield. The bus driver must submit to a mandatory drug test, per district procedure, Harding said, and will be off the road, pending the results and an investigation.
