A Myrtle Beach man was taken into custody Thursday evening after a 50-year-old woman reported he choked her and threatened to kill her, according to a police report.
Christopher Wayne Debus, 37, was charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and resisting arrest after the woman went to the Myrtle Beach Police Department at 6:15 p.m. Thursday to report the incident, police said.
The victim said about 5 p.m. Thursday she arrived home from work at 2701 S. Ocean Blvd., and Debus was verbally aggressive toward her and they argued, according to the report. The victim said Debus shoved her, threw her onto a bed and choked her.
The victim said Debus pinned her to the bed, choked her again and threatened to kill her, according to the report. The victim said she begged Debus to stop and he finally let her go.
The victim said she told Debus she was going to a friend’s home and went to the police department to report the incident. The officer noted the victim’s shirt was torn, her neck was red and she exhibited fear of Debus because he had never been physical toward her before.
Officers went to the apartment and took Debus into custody. No other details were listed in the report.
