A Summerville man arrested Wednesday is charged in connection with the assault of a woman at a Myrtle Beach hotel Monday, according to a police report.

Timothy Dean Brown, 26, is charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and kidnapping.

A woman, who was at the pool at the Dunes Village Resort with Brown and her 3-year-old daughter, stepped outside to smoke a cigarette Monday and returned to find Brown and her daughter had left, police said. The woman went to the hotel room the three were sharing and found Brown who accused the woman of cheating on him while she was out smoking, the report said.

Brown yelled at her and choked her with both hands until the child came out of a bedroom crying, then he punched her in the face three or four times and slapped her, police said. The woman said she tried to get away when Brown locked her in a bedroom with her daughter.

When he let her out of the bedroom he brandished a kitchen knife at her and was threatening to stab himself, according to the report. The woman pushed the door open for her daughter to run out while Brown began choking her again, when he stopped she said she was able to flee to the lobby where she met police.
