Authorities have charged a man police say held them at bay for more than eight hours at a home near Garden City.

Wilbur Joshua Snow, 32, faces charges of criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and kidnapping in connection with the standoff on Coastline Court, according to J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Horry County Police received a call about 12:30 a.m. Monday reporting a woman was being held with a weapon on Coastline Court, which is off of Wood Thrush Drive. Officers tried to communicate with the man inside the residence, but were unsuccessful. The SWAT team and hostage negotiators arrived there about 4 a.m., Lt. Robert Kegler said.

Officers were able to make contact with the man shortly after 9 a.m. and the couple emerged from the condominium in the Sweetwater development shortly after officers made contact.

The woman was not injured. Snow was taken into custody. Information on whether police recovered any weapons was not available Monday evening.
