Police investigate stabbing of Myrtle Beach roommates

A 29-year-old Myrtle Beach man was charged with assault after police learned a stabbing occurred at an apartment on Greens Boulevard, according to a police report.

Jorge De La Cruz Leyva, 29, of Myrtle Beach was charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature after officers were called at 1:15 a.m. Thursday to the apartment at 2005 Greens Blvd., police said.

Leyva was stabbed in the hand and was treated and released from the hospital, while Juan Silva, 18, of Myrtle Beach remained hospitalized, according to the report. Officers learned that the men are roommates and they had argued.

Leyva said Silva came at him with a knife, but police were unable to speak with Silva about what occurred, according to the report. Police found Silva at the corner of Greens Boulevard and 21st Avenue North with multiple stab wounds and he was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The case remains under investigation.
