At least 20 businesses will be looking for workers during a job fair Thursday in Murrells Inlet.

The job fair will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Inlet Square Mall, 12125 U.S. 17 Bypass.

About 20 businesses had signed up to participate as of Tuesday, including tourist attractions such as Hollywood Wax Museum and Gilmore Entertainment, hotels, stores such as Wal-Mart (which is hiring 95 workers for its new store at S.C. 544 and U.S. 17 Business) and others such as First Federal Bank, Georgetown County Water and Sewer and HealthMarkets Insurance Agency, according to Goodwill Industries, one of the job fair sponsors.

Jobseekers who attend the fair also can get free help with resume building and tips for how to handle interviews from SC Works.

The job fair is sponsored by Palmetto Goodwill, the Myrtle Beach Area and Georgetown County chambers of commerce and Inlet Square Mall.

The event is the latest in a string of job fairs along the Grand Strand in recent weeks as hospitality businesses beef up their staffs preparing for the summer tourism season while others sponsored by the NAACP and Horry-Georgetown Technical College aim to connect jobseekers with all types of employers.
