Myrtle Beach police investigate early morning shooting at apartment complex

Myrtle Beach police are investigating an early morning shooting at an apartment complex in the city, according to a police report.

Officers were called to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday where a 34-year-old man was taken with a gunshot wound, police said.

Witnesses told police that the shooting occurred about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at 4505 N. Kings Highway, according to the report. Offices learned the victim, a woman and a child were in an upstairs bedroom at the apartment when two men with their faces covered came in and asked the victim where something was located.

The report did not describe what the gunmen were asking the victim about.

The witness said the victim stated several times that he didn’t know what the men were talking about, according to the report. The victim tried to run down the stairs, but one of the men shot the victim several times.

Another witness told police he arrived at the apartment when the two gunmen were fleeing and did not see the incident, according to the report. The witness drove the victim to the hospital and the victim was taken into the operating room at the time.
