Horry County police investigate deadly shooting near Conway

A man was shot and killed early Wednesday at a home near Conway, according to Horry County police.

Robert Myers, 48, of Conway was pronounced dead at the scene, Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler said. An autopsy Wednesay showed Myers died from trauma to vital organs due to a gunshot wound, Fowler said.

Horry County officers were called for a shooting about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday to a home on Weldon Lane, which is off of West Cox Ferry Road along S.C. 544, Lt. Robert Kegler said.

When officers arrived they found Myers was dead from an apparent gunshot wound, Kegler said. Detectives learned that there was a gathering of people at the home and an altercation occurred in which one gunshot was fired and struck the victim.

Detectives continue to investigate the incident.
