Four area teams ranked in preseason baseball polls

February 20, 2014

Four area teams were included in South Carolina Baseball Coaches Association preseason polls, released Thursday.

Socastee, which made a run to the Lower State title series last spring and returns most of its production, was No. 6 in Class AAA. The area Class AA trio of Loris, Waccamaw and Aynor were also ranked in that class. The three teams came in at Nos. 5, 6 and 9, respectively. In addition to those three local teams, fellow Region VIII-AA team Dillon was included at No. 7.

Other unofficial preseason polls from around the state have included area teams Conway and St. James, although those two weren’t recognized by the SCBCA for these.
