If you’re looking for something special to do, there are several fundraisers coming up that offer opportunities to enjoy yourself while supporting art, artists or music in the area.
On Feb. 23, the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum is hosting its Third Annual Collectors’ Event, a random auction of 100 original works of art by local, regional and internationally known artists.
The event will be held at the Collector’s Café, 7740 N. Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach.
Only 100 tickets are being sold. Tickets are $100 and will admit the ticket holder and a guest. Every ticket holder will get a piece of art. Numbers will be drawn and the first winner can select their choice of art exhibited.
The doors will open at 4 p.m. for viewing of the art. The event is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the art museum.
The art museum is at 3100 S. Ocean Blvd. in Myrtle Beach. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated.
The art museum consists of 10 galleries, an art studio, an art library, a reception room, a tea porch and more. Special art exhibitions and events for children and adults are held throughout the year.
The Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum’s major fundraiser gives the public an opportunity to tour some of the Myrtle Beach area’s most beautiful and exceptionally decorated homes.
The 14th Annual Tour of Homes will be held on March 8. Tickets are $40 in advance and $45 on the day of the tour.
For those taking the tour, there will be a luncheon buffet at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club at 9000 N. Ocean Blvd. The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets for the luncheon are $17 and can be purchased at the museum through March 7 or at the luncheon location on the day of the tour.
Tour tickets can be purchased at the art museum and at several other locations. For a list of those locations, to read about the homes on the tour or for other information, call the art museum or visit its website.
