SC can’t shake place on foreclosure list

South Carolina still can’t shake its place in the top 10 states with the highest for foreclosure activity, according to statistics compiled by RealtyTrac, which follows foreclosures nationwide.

The January report showed that one if every 850 South Carolina housing units were involved in foreclosure. That put the state at eighth place nationally, 35 ahead of ninth place Ohio (one in every 885), but a whopping 500 below of top place Florida (one in every 346).

It should be noted that RealtyTrac uses three different foreclosure actions to get its statistics, which means that one home could have more than one action which could affect the ratio of foreclosed versus total housing units. But the compilation method shouldn’t change the relative ranking of one state as having more or less activity than another.
