Most Horry County public schools to open Friday, while all in Georgetown County remain closed

vgrooms@thesunnews.comFebruary 13, 2014

Most public schools in Horry County will open on a regular schedule Friday, except for the following: Aynor Elementary School, Midland Elementary School, Aynor Middle School, Aynor High School, Green Sea Floyds Elementary School and Green Sea Floyds High School. Bus transportation will not run in the Aynor and Green Sea Floyds attendance areas for any students Friday.

Schools in the Georgetown County School District will be closed for students Friday because of widespread power outages in the county.

More than half of the district’s schools have no electricity, said Ray White, district spokesman.

All 240- and 220-day employees are expected to report to work by 10 a.m., and schools will reopen on their regular schedules Tuesday.
