A body found in the water Saturday in the Sampit River was identified as a missing Georgetown boater.

Georgetown County Coroner Kenneth Johnson said x-rays provided by the family confirmed the man found is Keith Edward Sullivan who had been missing since Jan. 12.

An autopsy showed Sullivan drowned, Johnson said, and is believed to be accidental.

Sullivan, 45, was living on a boat anchored in the Sampit River near the clock on Front Street in Georgetown, said Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson. Sullivan was last seen about midnight Jan. 12. His boat, named “Saga,” remained anchored and searches for Sullivan using boats equipped with side-scan sonar had been unsuccessful.
