Schools will be closed in Horry and Georgetown counties on Wednesday

All public schools in Horry and Georgetown counties will be closed Wednesday.

In Horry County, however, all 12-month district/school employees are asked to report to work as conditions allow at their normal contracted times, according to an announcement Tuesday afternoon.

The Georgetown County schools are closed for students and staff.

The Georgetown district will decide Wednesday afternoon about Thursday’s schedule, according to Ray White district spokesman.

Horry County schools officials on Tuesday also cancelled all afterschool activities, except for afterschool childcare programs.
