Girder placement at back gate to resume Sunday, continue through week

Nighttime work at the backgate project, at S.C. 707 and U.S. 17 Bypass, will resume Sunday night and continue through Thursday.

Work is slated to begin at 9 p.m. and continue through 6 a.m. This work will require limited nighttime lane closures on a portion of the inside north bound lane on U.S. 17 Bypass, according to a press release issued by Horry County. This will reduce traffic down to one lane going north on U.S. 17 Bypass from Palmetto Point Boulevard to Shetland Lane, the release states. This closure will assist in hanging the rest of the steel girders for the north bound bridge, which lead up to the top of the bridge.
