Georgetown County deputies search for motel robber

— Georgetown County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a robbery that occurred Thursday evening at a Pawleys Island are motel.

The robbery happened at Motel 6 at 7903 Ocean Highway, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies are asking for help from the public to identify a suspect.

Deputies said the man walked into the motel about 5:30 p.m. Thursday and handed the clerk a note demanding money and fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

The man did not brandish a weapon and the clerk was not injured, deputies said. He fled the scene in a Toyota Corolla.

The man authorities are looking for is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He was wearing light blue shorts, a white hooded sweatshirt, a black beanie hat and sunglasses.

Anyone that can identify the suspect or has any information about the robbery is urged to call the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 546-5101.
