A dense fog advisory is in effect for the Myrtle Beach area until 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C.

Visibility is expected to improve through daybreak, but until then it is reduced to a quarter mile or less, forecasters said. Motorists should slow down, use their headlights and allow extra following distance between vehicles.

Forecasters issued the advisory until 9 a.m. Wednesday, but then extended it to 10 a.m. because conditions had not cleared.
