A 27-year-old Conway man was arrested Saturday and charged with murder and weapons charges in connection with the murder of a man earlier this month.

San MeGales Huffman was arrested by the Hampton County Sheriff’s Department. He is charged with murder, possession of firearm by prohibited persons and possession of a firearm during a violent crime. He was transported to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center to await a bond hearing, according to a press release issued by the Conway police.

Huffman is accused in the Jan. 6 death of 23-year-old Joey Pyatt who died at Conway Medical Center while being treated for a gunshot wound, said Lt. Selena Small of the Conway Police Department.

Barry Dewitt Bethea, 21, of Conway was also charged this month with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection with this homicide.
