Horry County Schools app available for phones, tablets

vgrooms@thesunnews.comJanuary 29, 2014

Parents and others interested in Horry County Schools can access the district’s news and information on a mobile application that is available for any Apple or android phone or tablet.

“The focus is on things that parents would want to have at their fingertips,” said Ben Coy, HCS communication specialist, who said pulling up the district’s website on mobile devices can be cumbersome.

The application pulls together several streams of information, including Facebook and Twitter messages. Users do not have to have Facebook and Twitter accounts to access the information.

The app also includes Power School, information on each school and menus, and it can provide users with push notifications for headlines and alerts. An updated testing calendar for 2014 is expected to be available in February.
