Public schools in Horry, Georgetown counties will be closed Tuesday

All Horry County public schools will be closed Tuesday because of the winter storm that is expected, according to Teal Harding, Horry County Schools spokeswoman.

The district will continue to monitor forecasts and will make a decision about Wednesday’s school schedule by midday Tuesday. The district asks that all 12-month employees report to work as conditions allow.

Schools in the Georgetown County School District also will be closed Tuesday for students and employees, according to Ray White, district spokesman. Any changes to Wednesday’s schedule will be decided Tuesday afternoon.

Horry Georgetown Technical College and Coastal Carolina University also canceled classes Tuesday and will make decisions about Wednesday early Tuesday afternoon.

At CCU, Hicks Dining Hall will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. University Place Café will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tuesday. All other food service venues will be closed. Kimbel Library will close at 2 a.m. Tuesday

The shuttles and busses will not be in operation. The Office of Student Health Services will remain open Tuesday. Campus recreation will be open from noon until 6 p.m. Tuesday.
