Fairfax man arrested on weapons charge after Myrtle Beach police investigate assault

A Fairfax man was charged with being a convicted felon and having a handgun when Myrtle Beach police went to investigate a reported assault, according to a police report.

Harry Jamielle Lockett Jr., 24, of Fairfax was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon after officers were called at 3:45 p.m. Sunday to 901 S. Ocean Blvd, police said.

Officers were called about a woman being beaten on the sidewalk near the location, according to the report. Officers found Lockett and the woman, who did not have any visible injuries and denied being assaulted.

Lockett also denied assaulting the woman, but when police took him into custody because they thought he was going to run away they found a gun in his pants waistband, according to the report. Lockett admitted to being a convicted felon, but eh report did not list information about his previous conviction.

Lockett was taken into custody and the gun was taken as evidence.
