A 30-year-old Myrtle Beach man told police he was attacked when he answered a knock at his door, according to a police report.

The victim told officers that he was sleeping in the living room when the 42-year-old suspect came and knocked on the door at 2:40 p.m. Sunday, police said.

The victim said he told the suspect through the door he was not coming into the house and the suspect then opened the unlocked door, according to the report. The victim said the suspect attacked him by grabbing his throat, putting his thumb in the victim’s eye and scratching him.

The victim said he fought back with the suspect and punched him several times before the suspect ran to his moped and drove away, according to the report. The victim told officers he has known the suspect for two weeks and there was no reason for the suspect to be inside his home.

The victim had marks on his eye, throat and a cut on his back and arms, according to the report. The victim declined treatment by EMS and said he would seek his own medical treatment.

Officers found the suspect’s wallet in the house and took it as evidence, according to the report. The victim’s door would not shut properly following the incident. No other details were listed in the report.
