Water main break reported in North Myrtle Beach

North Myrtle Beach residents and businesses in the area between 53rd and 56th Avenues North are without water early Wednesday following an incident with the water main line along Ocean Boulevard, said Pat Dowling, city spokesman.

What officials initially thought was a water main break turned out to be a broken connection, Doweling said.

“Once public works crews were able to reach and isolate today’s break on Ocean Boulevard, it was determined that a water main had not broken. Instead, a two inch service connection broke on an eight inch water line,” Dowling said. “The break may have been caused by a combination of age, repetitive stress and other factors.
