Conway police continue to investigate homicide

Conway police continued Monday to investigate a shooting that killed a 23-year-old man last week, according to authorities.

Lt. Selena Small said officers continued Monday to investigate the shooting death of 23-year-old Joey Lee Pyatt Jr., and asked that anyone with information regarding his death contact police.

Pyatt, a Conway resident, died from a gunshot wound while being treated at Conway Medical Center after the shooting about 1 p.m. Jan. 6, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

Conway police were called to the area of Pitman Street and Woodward Drive for gunshots being fired and found Pyatt had been shot, according to a police report.

Anyone with information about Pyatt’s death can call the Conway Police Department at 248-1790.

Pyatt’s death is the first homicide this year in Horry and Georgetown counties.
