Myrtle Beach police are investigating a shooting and robbery that involved a 51-year-old man being shot in the leg while walking home from a grocery store, according to a police report.

A 30-year-old man told officers that about 8:15 p.m. Sunday he and the older man were walking through the woods to go home after leaving Food Lion at 1009 U.S. 501, police said.

The younger man told officers that two men appeared out of no where in the wooded area near the store, robbed them and one of the men shot the older victim in the leg as he tried to run away, according to the report. The victim said the robbers then ran south on Cedar Street from the area.

EMS took the older victim to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment, according to the report. Officers searched the area, but did not find the suspects. No additional details were listed in the report.
