Road work closing Third Avenue South near Ocean Boulevard on Thursday, Friday

mprabhu@thesunnews.comJanuary 8, 2014

As the city continues to make improvements to Third Avenue South in Myrtle Beach, the road will be closed from Shelly Street to Ocean Boulevard on Thursday and Friday.

The city has been making improvements to Third Avenue South, including widening the road, installing pedestrian crosswalks and putting utility wires underground. The work will be completed this spring.

Detours will be posted during the road closure.

City spokesman Mark Kruea said there should not be any major road closures such as last fall and winter when the entire stretch of Third Avenue South from Kings Highway to Ocean Boulevard was closed for five months.
