Conway police continued Tuesday to investigate a shooting that killed a 23-year-old man, according to authorities.

Joey Lee Pyatt Jr., 23, of Conway died from a gunshot wound while being treated at Conway Medical Center after the shooting about 1 p.m. Monday, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

Conway police were called to the area of Pitman Street and Woodward Drive for gunshots being fired and found Pyatt had been shot, according to a police report.

On Tuesday, Lt. Selena Small said no new details were available for release in the investigation.

“We are still early on in the investigation and we have not made any arrest in the case,” Small said. “We encourage anyone with information to contact the Conway Police Department at 843-248-1790. We are still following up on any leads or information that comes in to us.”

Pyatt’s death is the first homicide this year in Horry and Georgetown counties.
