Victim of Monday afternoon shooting in Conway dies from wounds

A man was shot and killed in Conway on Monday afternoon, police said.

Horry County deputy coroner Tony D. Hendrick said the victim was a 23-year-old Joey Lee Pyatt Jr. of Conway.

According to a press release from the Conway Police Department, officers responded to the area of Pittman Street and Woodward Drive for a report that someone had been shot.

Officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound who was taken to Conway Medical Center, where he died.

Hendrick said an autopsy will be performed on the man Tuesday to determine the cause of death.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call 248-1790.
