Nearly 300 people showed up Saturday to search for Heather Elvis, the missing Myrtle Beach 20-year-old.

The 10-hour search drew hunters, all-terrain vehicle riders, about 50 people riding horses and nearly 180 ground support personnel, said Monica Caison, founder and director of the CUE Center based in Wilmington, N.C.

“People are keeping their eyes out for any kid of clues,” Caison said late Saturday. “They been quite a few tips that have come in.”

Caison said law enforcement officers often examine the tips and then lead searchers into wooded areas and around small ponds.

Nearly 100 people showed up Friday to search for the woman, who was last seen about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 17.

In an Horry County police report filed late Dec. 19, an officer on patrol saw the 20-year-old’s vehicle parked at Peachtree boat landing and called her father, who is the registered owner, to inquire why it was parked there. Her father said he last heard from Elvis about 10:43 p.m. Dec. 17 when she sent him a text message. There is a $20,000 reward for information about her whereabouts.

Searchers have worked areas near Tidewater Road.

Dozens of local businesses and churches have donated supplies and food for the searchers.

Caison said crews will be back out Sunday to search for more clues.

“We’ve been able to get a lot of acreage done,” she said. “We had a really great crew. Very thorough.”

Anyone with information about Elvis should call Horry County police at 915-TIPS.
