Myrtle Beach-based bank to build new office in Pawleys Island

South Atlantic Bank is building a new branch in Pawleys Island that aims to open this summer.

Construction is expected to start this month on a 4,000-square-foot building at the corner of Lachicotte Road and Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island near the Hammock Shops.

The new building, set on about an acre, will have a drive-up ATM and look similar to the bank’s offices in Myrtle Beach and Murrells Inlet.

The bank has operated a full-service branch in Pawleys Island since June 2012 at 10593 Waverly Place, but has outgrown that spot, officials said.

South Atlantic Bank, based in Myrtle Beach, also has offices on 29th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach, at Tournament Boulevard in Murrells Inlet and in Georgetown. It recently opened a loan production office in Mount Pleasant.
