Don’t turn Whispering Pines

into executive course

It has recently come to my attention that the Whispering Pines golf course, recently hailed as such a welcoming sight to the golf tourists arriving at our beautiful new airport, is to be sabotaged. Whispering Pines is the only municipal golf course in the area. As such, it should at least be peer reviewed by the public who feel that the course adds to the quality of life in the area.

It is one of the few courses where one is allowed to walk and not have to rent a cart. It is a landmark that goes back years and should be preserved. That some non-golfers with such disdain for those of us who enjoy the sport could rip up holes 1, 2, 3, and 4 to put in soccer fields (don’t we already have enough and more being built?) and tennis courts (that can join the many other abandoned and neglected tennis courts seen around the area) and convert a beautiful 18-hole layout into a comical “executive” golf course, par 62?

If it is financial concern driving this decision, where is the money to come from for this very costly renovation. Please leave Whispering Pines alone.

SC ethics policies

need a change

I am always amused by the dance that conservative Republicans in South Carolina do when one of their own is facing an ethics violation.

I suggest that to save themselves time and the the anguish of going through the motions that they just change the law to read that “conservative Republican politicians are exempt from ethics charges.”
