Myrtle Beach area man claims winnings in Mega Millions lottery

— A Myrtle Beach area man told state lottery officials that his wife fainted after he told her they had a winning Mega Millions lottery ticket.

The man, who declined to be identified, claimed his winnings from the S.C. Education Lottery and said he told his wife about the winnings when she got home from work. The man said she didn’t believe him, so he handed her the ticket to compare the numbers.

The winning numbers were 8, 14, 17, 20 and 39 with a Megaball of 7.

Then the man said his wife blacked out in the kitchen floor.

The ticket, a quick pick, was purchased from the Bi-Lo on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach and matched the first six numbers drawn. If the ticket had matched all six numbers, the man would be claiming a share of the $648 million jackpot.

The Bi-Lo in North Myrtle Beach received a commission of $10,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
