Conway police investigate shooting outside apartment complex

A Conway man told police he was shot in the leg after he went outside his apartment because he heard a disturbance, according to a police report.

The 27-year-old man was treated at Conway Medical Center about 11:30 a.m. Dec. 12 for the wound to his leg, police said.

The victim and his girlfriend told police the two men were outside their apartment at 1002 Pine St., Oaks Apartments, according to the report. The victim said he didn’t know the men.

The victim’s girlfriend told police she was getting the mail when she heard a gunshot and then saw the two men running from behind the apartments, according to the report. The victim’s girlfriend said the victim then approached her and said he needed to go to the hospital.

Police found a handgun inside the woman’s vehicle when officers searched it outside the hospital, according to the report. The victim’s girlfriend said it belonged to the victim. Detectives are investigating the incident.
