Construction has started on the new Hilton Grand Vacations Club timeshare coming to Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.
The 22-story, 220 unit timeshare is the first new lodging establishment to be built in Myrtle Beach since construction stopped during the Great Recession. No new hotels were built in the city since 2009.
Columbia-based Landmark Builders, is constructing the building, which is expected to open in spring 2015.
The Hilton Grand Vacations Club will sit on the stretch of beach between Schooner II Beach and Racquet Club and Boardwalk Hotel on North Ocean Boulevard, according to plans submitted to the city. The project is estimated to cost $41.5 million, according to the documents.
The timeshare property will replace Beach View Apartments, which was torn down in August.
A spokeswoman from Hilton did not immediately return a request for comment.
