One of two men accused in the death of a Coastal Carolina University student earlier this year has been charged in a 2012 homicide.

Stephon McLain Jr. 23, of Conway was charged Friday with murder in connection with the death of 44-year-old Herbert Deas Jr.

Deas died Sept. 13, 2012 from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body, said Horry County Deputy Coroner Tony Hendrick.

McLain has been jailed since March 8 when he was arrested by officers in Mansfield, Ohio in connection with the Feb. 26 shooting death of CCU sophomore Anthony Darnell Liddell.

Lidell, 19, was shot to death at University Place off S.C. 544 near CCU, which lead to a campus-wide lockdown while police searched for the shooter.

Also charged in the death of Liddell is Marquis McDonald, 21, of Conway.
