Coastal Carolina University trustees approved an initiative to make the campus smoke-free and tobacco free Friday, according to a release from the university.

The tobacco-free policy will take effect for the Fall 2014 semester.

The tobacco-free initiative includes support programs and an educational campaign that promotes healthy living.

Smoking cessation classes and other aids will be available to all members of the CCU campus beginning Jan. 2014.
