— S.C. 51, or Brown’s Ferry Road, was closed for several hours Wednesday afternoon when a pickup truck crashed into a log truck in Georgetown county.

Ben Prew Jr., 70, of Nesmith died in the crash, said Georgetown County Coroner Kenneth Johnson. An autospy will be performed Thursday morning to determine the cause of death, Johnson said.

Prew was driving a 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck north on S.C. 51 when he crossed the center lane and hit a loaded log truck head on, said Corporal Sonny Collins said. The driver of the log truck was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina. His condition is not known.
