Applications are available for Horry County Schools’ high school programs

vgrooms@thesunnews.comDecember 6, 2013

— Applications are now available online for rising eighth-grade students who want to apply for one of Horry County Schools’ high school options, such as the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) program, the Scholars Academy or one of the academies.

Applications should be submitted on or before Feb. 14, and students will be notified of their acceptance beginning March 11.

Some programs are limited in size. Early College High School will accept about 100 students, Scholars Academy about 50 students and STEM about 150 students. Students can only enter those programs as rising ninth-graders, and there will not be a waiting list for them, regardless of how many commitment forms are received.

More information is available on the district’s website, www.horrycountyschools.net, and applications can be found on the individual program’s website, which can be reached from the district’s home page.
