Myrtle Beach firefighters responded to a fire late Tuesday in an abandoned motel on Ocean Boulevard.

The fire at the Sportsman Motel building at 1405 S. Ocean Blvd. was reported about 8 p.m., according to Battalion Chief Tom Gwyer.

He said firefighters found smoke and flames showing on the third floor when they arrived. Within about 30 minutes the fire was controlled, he said, and no one was injured. An investigation was ongoing at the fire scene as of 10 p.m. Tuesday.

No cause was identified Tuesday. Gwyer said the fire was located in one room.
